Hi,
You push and hold the DEL key to get to the BIOS (not F8) unless you have a
weird notebook.
That better?

Stop using those paper phone message pads
make the computer work for you.

this is a serious problem, 50% of the time I have been able to recover
the disk and has worked fine, the other 50% had to have the drives
replaced and all data was lost.

note down the bottom, it says if chkdsk /r doesnt work run fixboot, do
a google for "unmountable boot volume" there are a lot of guides on
how to fix the issue.. i think also chkdsk /p can be run before
chkdsk /f.

F8 to get into the BIOS??? That's a first in my experience.

Normally it's pressing the DELETE key. Sometimes it's F2, F11, or
F12.

F8 gets you into Windows SAFE mode if everything is working fine...
which it isn't.

Are you sure F8 is the right key? The right key combination is
probably shown briefly on your screen during the bootup process. To
stop the process so that you can see what's on the screen, hit the
"Pause" key (probably at the upper-right of your keyboard). To restart
things, hit any key.

You could also look in your computer or motherboard manual for the
BIOS access code.

F8 may not be the correct one. For example, it is F2 on my Dell computers

chkdsk /p is only used in the recovery console, and it takes the place of
chkdsk /f.
