Gavin Turnbull

The PC boots ok and gets to windows.

However when the BIOS loads it finds all the drives and states that
there master or slave on the relevent cable.

Then it says
"No 80 pin connector on IDE 00"

Then boots not prob's?????

On IDE 00 i have a 40gb HD on as the master and a sony CD/RW as the
slave.

When in windows works fine

Its a Elite MB-661FX-M Motherboard, has a Intel Celeron 2.4GHz
Processor and 256MB DDR Memory

Any ideas how to get rid of it???

and yes i knowm 'if its not broke dont fix it! '

But theres no smoe with out fire!

Thanks

If you fit an 80 wire ATA133 cable the message will go away, the 40 wire
cable that is in their now is slowing down the drive to ATA33 speeds as it
can not cope, this is why the bios is complaining. The cable that came with
the motherboard should be an 80 wire ATA133.
