BIOS Codes Error

Clayton

I've brought this pci card that can test motherboards and it's giving me a
code 0DCA
Phoenix&Dell (0D)[Beep]=1-4-2 1st 64K RAM parity test in progress or failure

I am having intermittent problems on boot-up showing me the screen about
starting windows normally etc etc, the last time this problem happened I
found the motherboard had leaking capacitors and was replaced under Dell
warranty and now the problem is happening again and the capacitors look ok

So what does 1st 64K RAM parity test in progress or failure mean? memtest86
came back as ok

cheers

Why ask here? This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the XP OS.

Ask elsewhere.

Check the Group Title. Notice that although it does say Hardware, it
also says WindowsXP. Put that together. Now ask yourself: does your
question involve the OS in any way. NO. So, ask elsewhere.

You're confused. The bios error code is the result of testing the cmos, not
the RAM. Memtest86 checks RAM.

A quote about this bios code error from a website:
As any experienced technician knows, a failure at any given location does
not necessarily mean that the particular part or section under test has
actually failed. For example, any problem with the motherboard address lines
or local bus can cause the CMOS read/write test to fail, even though the
CMOS RAM may work perfectly.

So this is a windowsxp AND hardware group, not windowsxp OR hardware group?
What if there is no mention of hardware in a post? You going to send that
OP away too? Please define EXACTLY what's okay to post here for future OPs,
mr./ms. newsgroup policeman.

Yet another idiotic TOP POST. It has nothing to do with your time
zone idiot. It refers to putting your reply at the top of the message
instead of the bottom, thereby screwing up the continuity of the
message.

Regardless, the OP had absolutely NOTHING to do with XP and didn't
belong here.

If you spent more time reading your text books instead of being a nuisance
in here you would know it's better to post at the top of the messages

Yet another idiotic TOP POST.

It's only idiotic if one is obsessed with style over substance. Most
newsgroups have a common style, real USENET is bottom-post and the MS
newsgroups typically have top posts. Either way, it's a good idea to snip
extraneous stuff from messages, which makes the posting order irrelevant.
