What prompted you to replace the MBD?
At this point, You may have hardware problems, or need to load motherboard
specific drivers. Can you get the system to run in safe mode?
What motherboard, processor, video card, memory size, etc. do you have?
Is the BIOS set to provide power management (Legacy settings), or is
windows?

Check your connections for standby on your mobo. You probably have th
plugs reversed on the header. If that is not the case then
reccommend to pull the standby jumpers or disable it in the bios til
you get an opportunity to check all the windows settings and timers

Yes i can get it to run in safe mode. I have a ASUS A8V-MX with a AMD Athlon
3500+, with 2 gig of ram, and new ati radeon 9600XT 256mb vid card. I believe
i have the BIOS set to power management but not sure. I call microsoft and i
did it with my old card. The problem was the display adapter and when it was
disabled, it worked fine. But then after i installed a new vid card it
started to do it again but only after i had updated it. I dont know if this
means anything but in my display adapters i have my card 9600XT and another
one that is 9600XT-Secondary. i disabled that one and i got on without a
problem but when i tranfer users or restart it does it again. Right now im
going to update any BIOS for my Mobo if possible and see if that helps.

One little question where in the BIOS do i find standby, i dont see any
jumpers for standby on my mobo. I rather not have standby anyways never used
it, there really isnt any point when its not a laptop. And i have a ASUS
A8V-MX mobo if that helps any.

Well i hope someone can respond to this very soon because im buying a new
case... If my case was not MicroATX compatible, would that cause standby and
other power function problems? Please give me a response soon so i can order
my case.

Ok... Ive heard that the case cable connector for my power button, if its not
connect exactly right might cause it. and it is not connected exactly because
my connector cant connect to all the pins for the HD LED or the power on LED.
Could that be a reason since the case is 4 years old?

Hard to tell what you are doing. If your motherboard and the case are
not compatible, who knows. Windows is not picky about the case, but if
you have an old incompatible motherboard and BIOS, Standby certainly
won't work as intended..

Well, my motherboard is new, well everything is new except case, HD, and
optical drives. My Mobo and case are barely compatible, but the case is old
and the system panel connector wires go in a straight row, but the pins i
have to connector are on two rows and are not next to each other. Like I'll
have the first 2 pins on the bottom row that are for my HD LED light, then
skips 3 pins and i have my power on and reset pins, and then the first 3 pins
on the top row are for my power LED light. to sum all that crap up, im only
connected to my power on and wrongly to my HD LED, but i cant help that part.
Hope that wasnt too confusing. http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/t103012.html
<---- That site will show you my system panel connector. and i can only get
the far left side on the bottom row. Hopefully that'll give you a better idea
of what im saying. If not then, I'll go ahead and buy my new case, and hope
that the connectors wires will be separate. At least thats what I see and
hear.

If the motherboard is new, and as long as you buy a case that it fits in
you should be good to go. Like I said earlier the "MicroATX" is a SIZE
issue. If you have a regular sized motherboard and you buy a MicroATX
case, it isn't going to fit. It has nothing to do with whatever
oprerating system you have. Windows XP is involved at all.
