BEWARE OF Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-039
(824146) ....

It is causing issues, and our 'Friends' @ Microsoft will
not respond to any postings. Many issues are arising from
this patch so they are keeping their heads in the sand so
they won't catch flack.

Come on some on from MS at least admit there are issues
so people can not go through the hell I put Roadrunner
through thinking it was their issue. It is bad enough you
put out this stuff the way you do, but then not to
help...SAD.

What problem are you specifically having that you have identified as being a
direct result of the MS03-039 patch ?
I have it running on 10 of my own machines - no problems and we have
mandated its installation on the thousands and thousands of Microsoft PCs
worldwide, which we have complied with - again with no incidents of ay issue
on the machines I have been involved with.
If you have a verifiable and reproducible problem then please detail it and
report it to Microsoft.

Greetings --

To what specific "issues" are you alluding? That particular patch
has caused no problems on any of the machines on which I've installed
it. I've also not seen any flurry of posts asking about problems
caused by the hotfix.

After installing the latest two security patches on Sept
13th, my XP Home Edition machine just reboots and reboots
and reboots. It never displays a login dialog.

I assume the only way I can stop it is to boot off of a
floppy, but how can I rollback the patch? I see no
information on the web site to guide me.

I have also experienced similar issues (see my post)...
Not sure if this is related, but ever since 9/13, not
rebooting at the prompt after installing a component that
requires reboot will put me in an infinite BSOD-reboot
loop at my next reboot... Is it what you are
experiencing? I am running XP Pro...

I caused me not to be able to surf, email or do anything
related to outside my internal network. TCP IP issues is
what the tech with Roadrunner thinks. There are alot of
posts about complaints with this patch besides me. This
patch was a patch to another problem right? I also had
slow down issues similar to what is being reported by
Fred. My friend up the street had the same issues until
he removed the patch too.

You MSFT's always say "I have installed this on a
bizillin machines without a..." Big deal, read the
countless posts on issues with MS03-039. Quit the MS
Spin, theres a problem, admit it. The MS Security is
pathetic and post reactative. It takes hackers to make
you even notice or fix issues. Pathetic. Now come back
with some more MS spin instead of taking the issue to
R&D. I used to be a MS supporter, however, the new M$ is
frankly making me sick. Fix your crap before I buy it.

Pretty much.

0. turn on.
1. disk starts up.
2. blank screen.
3. Windows XP Graphic with little progress bar.
4. Progress bar finishes.
5. disk spins down.
6. blank screen.
7. go to #1.

I figured out the solution (and it's not "install Linux" -
yet).

1. hit F8 during the blank screen phase of startup.
2. Select "restore last working configuration" (safe boot
did not work for me).
