better charting tools out there?

I'm looking for a charting tool that offers more
flexibility and variety than Excel, can anyone recommend
a good one? After looking at Visio, it looks like it's
mainly good for flow charts and other charts of that
nature. I want to just chart various series of data but
I want more options. Thanks!

What kind of options do you want? There are lots of tricks and
techniques to get more out of Excel's charts. I have some examples on my

I agree with John, but some things are undoubtedly extremely tedious to do
using Excel (e.g. Box Whisker plots), even using lots of ingenuity.
Have a look a SigmaPlot for specialist mathematical stuff. New version 8
integrates well with Excel.:

You might want to try TeeChart Pro ActiveX. It has lots, lots, lots of options.
It is intended for Visual Studio programmers but can also be used inside Excel or Word and (optionally) controlled using VBA scripts to move data from cells to chart series, etc, etc.
The download contains an Excel sample.
