When I installed beta office 2007 it some how screwed up my works 8 program
so that it can no longer find itself in the library.. Is there a patch or
something I can do to correct this problem? Tried uninstalling beta07,
problem remained. reinstalled beat 07, same thing.. My works 8 came
preinstalled and so I have no disc to uninstall, then reinstall works 8..
no-one, microsoft, or emachines seems to want to help and or have an
answer... Can anyone out there help or make a suggestion?

Backup your data. Run the eMachines recovery procedure to return your
computer to the factory setup. Re-install all your programs added since you
first got the computer. Restore your data from the backup.

A few things to think about for the future. One - when buying a computer
look for one that comes with the media to reinstall everything, not one that
has a restore to factory condition procedure. Two - don't install beta
software on anything but a test machine where you don't mind losing
everything. Three - probably the most important, backup before installing
anything (hardware or software).

The beta will expire in early 2007 and the fine print says that when it
expires you would have to re-install the original office programs from cd if
you didn't choose a "seperate directory" for it. It's install was predefind
to install over the previous versions. I did read the agreement carefully
because free beta's of this magnitude has to have a catch.......

It might help to use the open source office at
http://www.filehippo.com/download_openoffice also, you will need to download
java for it too http://www.filehippo.com/download_java_runtime it looks
pretty good to me.......

Are you sure you works is screwed up. Have you tried a restore from a prior
restore check point either from safe mode or normal mode? are you sure you
don't have a secondary partition with a restoration or disk image? was there
a disk imaging /recovery software preinstalled?
