Beta Feedback responses from MS leave me questioning

Correction: The 140,000 bugs include both Vista and Windows Server 2007/8
(aka Longhorn Server) since TechBeta is testing both in all their sku's.

Two million people do not post in the newsgroups, but more CPP people
submit bugs than just the people who post in the newsgroups.

Connect has logged around 140,000 Vista bugs submitted by TechBeta testers
alone (around 20,000 folks in TechBeta) in the first year. Additional
thousands of bugs have been posted by TAP, MSDN, TechNet, and Partner
testers.

All bugs in the Connect database are triaged and handled by the team that
owns the feature bugged.

The numbers get ugly fast.

The Connect team is new. I have seen a tremendous expansion of Connect's
ability to handle reports and give feedback in the year it has been in
operation. It has been heavily influenced by the input from the TechBeta
community.

Colin, you do not address the fact that you inferred that ALL of the CPP
people
would require/request access to the bug database when I doubt if this is the
case.

Care to post here what % of CPP Beta Testers have submitted at least 1
genuine bug report on Vista?.

I didn't infer. The Connect team have themselves commented on not being
prepared for giving feedback to the CPP. Connect itself is only a year old.

TechBeta is very structured. Given the large numbers testing Windows Server
2007/8 and all its permutations I would bet on a very broad-based
contribution rate. My guess is that the percentage of TB folks who have
filed at least one bug is nearly 100%. Their professional concerns as IT
people having to make a living working with Windows Server 2007/8 as well as
Vista for a decade to come ensures that.

I have no idea what an ungenuine bug report would be.

The Vista beta team has staged many live meetings and chats as well as
posted documents on Connect for effective bug reporting.
