Not to bring coals to Newcastle, I have an NVIDIA 6200 which came with my
system (AMD 5200+ w/Vista 32-bit). I bought the system in May and until
Friday, October 26 it worked fine. On Friday I began to see a strange graphic
display, display driver death, constant driver reboots, and eventually the
MS-DOS BSOD. Microsoft sent a notification that the problem was caused by
NVIDIA, but I just installed 3 drivers including a Beta (163.69, 163.75 &
96.85). No luck. Rather than casting blame it might be a good time for
Microsoft to coordinate a solution. My system is effectively dead. The only
solution that I can think of is to scrub the partition and reload the initial
OS and software, and disable automatic update, although I just might go out
and get Windows XP which seems more reliable. Not being particularly adept,
should I uninstall the drivers, reboot and install 163.69?

NVidia drivers don't usually like being installed by MS Update because
they like the old drivers removed first, otherwise you can end up with
parts that get overwritten and parts that don't and then often all hell
breaks loose. There's nothing "Wrong" with the drivers from the MS
website and they sometimes work but for safety ALWAYS remove old ones,
reboot and install new without Anitvirus / security software running.

It sounds also as if your problem may be hardware... does it happen
right away or after a while when things get hot. You can blow dust out
of the various heatsinks and fans with dry compressed air or one of
those aerosol dusters but DO NOT let the fan spin wildly, hold the
blades still while you do it. You will have to have the case apart to
check but it may just be the fan on the card full of dust etc.
