"Windows Vista Beta 2 and Windows Server "Longhorn" Beta 2 are available to
developers and IT professionals with MSDN and TechNet Plus subscriptions. In
the coming weeks, Microsoft will start the Windows Vista Customer Preview
Program (CPP) for developers and IT professionals who are not a part of one
of those programs to obtain Windows Vista Beta 2 and begin their own
testing. There will be an announcement on this page with the CPP becomes
available, or IT Pros can register at the link below to receive notification
via e-mail, and support for the beta."

Yeh, it'll be available soon. They did say that Beta 2 would be public -
they just never stated before actually when they were gonna release it.

I actually think they'll bring out RC1 to testers, then release Beta 2 to
the public - don't ask why I think that, it doesn't make sense, but that's
what I'm thinking )

Only bad part to that nice quote is that TechNet Plus subscription will not
be getting it for a couple of months due to the other statement on that same
site. So it looks like in the coming weeks, Microsoft will start the
Windows Vista Customer Preview
Program (CPP) for developers and IT professionals who are not a part of one
of those programs to obtain Windows Vista Beta 2 and begin their own testing
even before the TechNet Plus subscribers will be able to.

Quote from the same web site as Andre posted.
"TechNet Plus subscribers will receive Windows Vista Beta 2 in the July
monthly shipment."

Applied but still waiting to be accepted for the Vista Beta Testing group.
Can't wait to be able to play and help make it even better.

Three weeks from now would be too early for RC1 Zack, by that time you would
be suggested that Vista is very close to RTM. I suspect the 3 week delay is
to prep the servers for the massive 2 million + download overload. The might
want to span it across different servers around world not to cause any
bottle necks.

Aye they will be - they've got big servers in Dublin (NI), Reading (UK),
Singapore, Russia and India I think - so they'll probably spread everything
out yeh, just makes sense really )

It does make somehow sense what Zack says about releasing RC1 to the testers
according to the current timeframe for the RTM of Windows Vista.

Nope, it is not possible, Vista RTM's in October, RC1 would be a month or 2
before, which puts it at around August. Please note, there is no plan on a
RC2.

yep, that is what I saw. Maybe I get lucky and get a CD from the June 8
TechNet tour in my area - I hope.

There will be an RC2 - so correction there, but no RC1 in the next 3 weeks.

"What's the remaining schedule for Vista? Is it Beta 2, then Release
Candidate 1 and then straight to manufacturing?
Allchin: We will do something in between there. If you go back into XP,
you'll see that we did pretty much--we did an RC 1, we did an RC 2 and we
did an RTM. Right now our thinking is to do about the same thing. How broad
we make that next one after RC 1, even if we call it RC 2, that hasn't been
made, but we will do a drop about a month after we do RC 1 to some set of
people. The problem here is that we have to have immediate turnaround,
because we're on superdeadline then."

The timeline was to get the RC1 out by end of June which is in about 4 weeks
from now but I am adding an extra week...
