Hello,

I work for a company that is in the medical environment. We want to allow
the doctor's internet access to all website and only allow downloading of
files from two specific websites. The rest need to be blocked. Also, I
need to mention that they are not attaching to a domain and no proxy server
will be used and they are xp machines logging into the local workstation.

Thanks,

Debbie

Let me see if I got this correct

You have a website. You have 2 web pages in the website with
links for downloads. You only want doctors to be able to
download. The workstations are all XP Pro.

Best thing is to have a secured folder with those 2 pages in
it. Set up a local user group with access to that secured
directory, create user accounts for the doctors and put them
in the doctor group

Put the two sites in the Trusted Zone in the Internet Option, then block
downloads in the Internet Zone. Then lock the Internet Option or Remove the
Security Tab in Internet Options via Policy restriction.

Note: You must be logged on to each account to perform the above actions.

Here is the policy restrictions

Prevent access to Internet Options per User
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions
Name: NoBroswerOptions
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 1 (enabled) 0 (disabled)

or
Remove the Security Tab in Internet Options per User
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
Name: SecurityTab
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 1 (enabled) 0 (disabled)

If you want to do this for all account simply replace HKCU with HKLM.

No read it again.

He wants the XP machines setup so they can only download from two sites and
no other sites.

And you read it again too. The "He" you are referring to, the OP, is
named Debbie. ;-)

I am unsure it is a website that might be provided by the same people and it
maybe more then two pages that have downloads. The workstations are
actually thin clients that are xp embedded but it is just a componentized
version of xp pro so that should not make a difference. Would you still
suggest this?

That is correct. Doctors should be able to browse the internet anywhere
they want. They cannot download from anywhere except two specific website
that may or maynot be hosted by us.

Don't post binaries in a text newsgroup. I didn't want your crappy
picture on my hard drive.
