BEST REPLACEMENT FOR SCANJET 6100c?

What would you recommend? Price is not an issue. Speed, reliability,
functionality and resolution are.

Thanks,

Maybe depends on what you want to scan with it. I replaced my 6200 with an Epson
2450 Photo, which works great for photos etc. but is slow. Then a couple months
ago I bought one of those "see-through" HPs (4670?) for scanning a bunch of old
prints. (It's really convenient for lining up multiple prints, because you can
see if they shift when you close it.) It has an occasional banding problem, but
I think otherwise it's pretty good. However, when I use either of these as a
copier, it takes about 10 times as long as the old HP6200 did.

Another HP would be a no-no. I mainly need my scanner to scan a few pages
here and there and for running a few photocopies at a small office, so speed
is an issue, but it is the software and scan size that I loved about my old
6100c and I really hate about my new 8200. Anyone want to buy it? It's
really good for photos.

I know you say another HP is a no-no, but that's really the post 6100c
days.

Why not stick with the 6100c for precisely your needs. I don't think
you'll find anything better for your needs.

Plus, I think I have found a way to endlessly replace the lamp on the
6100c and its kin. Motor and belt is another issue. But you can pick
up these scanners for $4.99 on Ebay, though shipping bumps it all up
to around $30.

I'll know in a day or so regarding ultimate success.
