Hello,

I was wondering, what is considered best practice for W2K administrative
shares?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

By default only administrators have access. The best way to protect them is
with complex passwords for administrators, renaming the administrator
account, having an account lockout policy, and auditing the computer for
logon events. You can disable most of them if you have no need to use them
as described in link below. If the computer offers no shares and does not
need to be managed remotely via Computer Management consider unistalling
file and print sharing. --- Steve

You can use hidden share names by appending a "$" dollar
sign to your share name (eg. ADDON$).
