Best HTML-editor

Morgan Ohlson

I have made some simple web-pages in early Frontpage and in some text
editors. I'm still a newbe. Adware would also be okey.

# wysiwyg AND text edit
# stand alone editor (no pack thing)
# produce standard HTML (incl. scalable fonts)
# intuitive implementation of (almost) advanced functions
# preview in appl. or "push-to browser"
# strong and smart support for formats like page /cell /font colors,
pagename, marigins, frames etc.
# good /smart help functions (wisards) etc.

1. Wich comes closest?
2. Is there any software of special merits to mention?

If you're still a newbie, take the chance to learn some real HTML
and get rid of the WYSIWYG stuff. It might be a bit hard at first,
but you'll be better off on the long run.

If you are firmly decided to go the WYSIWYG route, I would suggest
you have a look at NVU (http://www.nvu.com/). At least it produces
relatively clean and compliant HTML code... you probably noticed the
kind of rubbish that FrontPage produces!

Note: NVU is still in its early development stage. The "advanced
features" that you request may not work yet as expected, or may
still need to be implemented.

Wald
