Guys:

I have a Nikon LS 100 slide scanner and want to buy a good flatbed for
scanning photographs. I'd like to have the Digital ICE software. What
is the best value for money at this point in time?

I have an Epson Perfection 4870 and am not impressed by ICE for
prints. It doesn't do anything for dust and won't catch all the
defects either. It can work on creases and tears, but the
"correction" might not account for distortion of the image. In other
words, if part of the photo is raised along a crease, ICE will just
cover up the crease area without stretching the surrounding areas away
from it. Doesn't always produce what you'd want.

But I haven't made an all-out effort to test the ICE capabilities. It
might yet be able to fulfill your needs.
