That is interesting. At work we have Spy Sweeper and yet I have run SpyBot
on numerous occasions only to find one or two items that were missed/that
got through. Maybe IT has the settings different or something.

But sometimes, these "spywares" can slip thru without your knowledge.

Only if you have scripting and activex enabled as a default!

OK, what's your OPINION of the best anti-spyware program ?
Or best PROGRAMS. Or if not the best, how about some
pretty good ones. OK ?

Or would you care to parse the question some more . . .

I'm curious as to what the professionals consider to be
the best anti-spyware programs available. Not just the
free stuff, what's the BEST program.

I realize that none of them are perfect and that using
more than one is necessary.

Yes, there is no *single* best. I run all of the following:

Spyware Blaster
AdAware
Spybot Search and Destroy
Spyware Guard
Microsoft Anti-Spyware
IE-Spyad
Winpatrol
CWShredder

There is not one BEST anti-spyware out. There is not one removal tool that
can detect/remove every spyware (yet???). However, some are better than the
rest.

A good paid for system is : CA PestPatrol.

Thanks Ken, I appreciate your response . . .

http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-features.htm
http://windowssecrets.com/050127/#story1
are 2 very good articles i found.

the first article is a very interesting side-by-side comparison of
features in 12 anti-spyware products.

the second article is also eye-popping, because it shows not only the
results of tests conducted using 20 different anti-spyware products, but
also results of tests conducted using pairs of anti-spyware products
working together, such as MS Anti-spyware working with Webroot's
SpySweeper, and Lavasoft's AdAware working with Spybot Search & Destroy.

not only will you find the results worth your reading, but also you will
find it interesting reading about how the tester collected the
infections. for example, just visiting some web sites and Not clicking

Just a little input for clarification. Individuals are using spyware and
virus interchangeabe. That's not the case.

True. Most folks agree to spyware by just clicking [Yes, I read the
agreement] when they install some new software without ever reading it
as it almost always says the program will also install spyware, but of
course they dont call it that they call it something nicer.

I hate to say this...but I switched to firefox and I have had no
problems since. No pop ups, no spyware, nothing. And you can
customize the browser! I no longer have to run any spyware or anythng.

www.mozilla.org

It also has it's own email app - thunderbird.

That's only temporary. The reason you haven't been attacked using Firefox is
because so few people use it. Malware writers are like duck hunters - they
go where the ducks are.

That's changing.

Besides, now you've probably voided your warranty.

I have been running SpySweeper and MS AntiSpyware both resident with no
problems running them together. Plus SpywareBlaster,Spybot and AdAware and
have never had any spyware on my computer.

That seems like a lot of trouble... why not just install Deep Freeze and
forget about it?

You can purchase a single-user license for $29.95 with their Standard
version.

My best spyware program is my own common sense, and I don't charge
myself anything for it.
