Hello

i recently installed the software, and plugged in the
card, but it never asked to "install the hardware" or
whatever. could this be a problem with teh slot? because
the card itself is brand new.

also, i try to follow the microsoft articles regarding
wireless network configuration, but when i go to "network
places" there is no options to click "wireless networking"
or anything.

any ideas?

thanks

If you read the instructions that come with the card I believe they'll tell
you that you need to install the drivers BEFORE plugging the card in.

yeah, i installed the software/drivers as it said, and
then plugged it in...but that notice telling me to plug it
in never came up.

any ideas?

thanks in advance

Are there any unknown or problem devices listed in Device Manager?

No, it doesn't even show up in the device manager list.
that's why i'm starting to believe it may be a problem
with the slot and not the card itself/compatibility
issues. Think that's a good guess?

At this point that would be my best guess. If you can, plug another card
into the slot and see if Windows tries to recognize it (you don't need to
install drivers, just plug it in and see if Windows will try to detect it).
If not then I'd bet the card slot is bad, but if Windows tries to initialize
and install the new card then the card itself is probably faulty.
