Has anyone else ever tried this? I was impressed (not hard for someone
like me). Lots of info, and actually readable!

I used it when I tried to recover a licence number I had lost. The
output produced a number called licence but it was not the one that was ok.

If not, can probably be helpful.

I've used it for some years. It's particularly good if you're
reformatting/reinstalling, as a checklist of what you have installed.

Very useful for keeping track of Microsoft patches installed, as the
latest Belarc Advisor Security Definitions Update
http://www.belarc.com/advisor_update.html
is released the wednesday after patch Tuesday. Keeping track of where
software is installed is also well worth the price (FREE for Home
Users). I find it handy to create a system profile after each change
to the system and keep backups so that when something that was
installed screws the pooch (messes up the system) it is quite easy to
see what was recently installed or un-installed that might be the
culprit. Also useful for CD Keys and serials in case you forget to
write them down somewhere.
