Behaviors with .wav files

The website that I'm working on has several short .wav files that can be
accessed via Behaviors by clicking onto a picture. For a while, they worked
fine. I then added a sound effect from Microsoft Clip Art, which played
beautifully when the main page was opened. However, from that point on, I
have had trouble with the other . wav files. I have since removed the Clip
Art sound effect, but on some computers, the existing .wav files either take
a long time to download or they don't play at all. The gentleman for whom
I'm building the site tested it today, and one of the .wav files played at
double-speed (much like listening to the Chipmunks!). Curiously, on my own
computer, they have all always played just fine. Would that be because my
computer is the initial source of these files? Is there another way to play
these .wav files aside from using Behaviors? HELP! Many thanks for any
suggestions!

Hi DJAssist,

If the wav files take a longer time to download, it's probably a Connection
Speed issue. A file is a file. It doesn't get any larger or smaller
depending on who is downloading it.

As for the "Chipmunk" sound, I would have to suspect your client's OS, as
wav files are not played by the browser, but by the OS, at the browser's
behest. See how your client's OS plays other wav files.

Thanks, Kevin! Would you please make a recommendation as to an alternate way
to play .wav files? The site is for a gentleman who runs a mobile disc
jockey service, and he wanted some audio "referrals" from previous customers.
Also, if I use Behaviors to bring up a pop-up window, is there a way to
specify exactly where on the page the window would go?

If the problem on your client's machine is the OS, it doesn't matter how you
play the wav files. You will get the same result. That is the first thing I
would check.

Sorry, behaviors is not my specialty. The answer is "yes" but as to how, I
couldn't tell you. Hopefully, someone here with more experience in that area
can help.
