Word Professional 2003

I am anxious to get started with learning the in's and out's of XML.
However, I seem unable to either locate or install from the "templates and
add-ins" feature any schemas for use in beginning this process.

In following the instructions for the Online Tutorial at the Microsoft Web
Site, I have additionally found that I do not have the capability of saving a
Word document with an .xml extension. This option is not available to me at
this point.

I would be very appreciate of anyone who may perhaps be able to shed any
light on this suation for me as to how I should proceed. Perhaps the xml
features are a part of an "add-on" of which I am unaware.

Thanking you in advance - Rod

With a Windoze OS, you may save anything as any type of file name
extension simply by enclosing the the entire file name in quotes.
Whether this completed task will function as you intend is another
issue.

Don:

Thanks so much for your timely reply.

It may be that I am erroneously thinking that the *.xml* extension should be
listed in the *save as type* menu in the same way as are other extensions
such as *.doc*, *.dot*, *.rtf*, *.txt*, etc., which in my case, it is not.

However, at your suggestion I was able to manually save a file with an
*.xml* extension, which indeed may be the one and only way of doing so.

I continue to remain at a loss as to why I don’t seem to have a schema
library from which to choose and am wondering if perhaps the *.xml* features,
for some reason, were some things which were not initially loaded with Word
Professional 2003 by our IT folks.

I’ll keep plugging away at hopefully tracking down the answers.

Thanks again for your assistance.
