I buy/build a computer once every 3-5 years. So when I buy, I want
something that will last awhile. .

What do you think of this configuration.

GA-8IK1100 motherboard
$127
Not going to use Gbit Network or a SCSI harddrive. Any reason to spend any
more on the motherboard?

Intel Pentium 4/3.0C GHz 800FSB, 512KB Cache $280
Seems to be the best value for the buck.

Thermaltake P4 Spark 7+ (Xaser Edition) $23
Since these are so cheap, I figured on buying the best. Is this one the
best?

Corsair Valur Select Dual Channel Kit 1G (512MBx2) $157
DDR PC-3200

ABIT GeForce TI4200-8X Video Card, 128MB DDR $137

Antec Life Style Series Model:Sonata with 380W PSU $90

2 X Seagate 80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive $158
I'm buying 2 of these so that I can run them with Raid 0
I'm kind of nervous about it though. If I loose either hard drive or the
controller than I'll loose everything not backed up. Is the speed gain
worth the added risk?

Creative Labs Audigy 2 PCI ZS Platinum
$162
Logitech 7640 5.1 Speakers
$66

SONY MPF920 1.44MB 3.5 Floppy $9

SONY BLACK 16X DVD-ROM Model DDU1612/B2 $39

Sony Black DVD+/-RW Recorder Drive $134

===========

$1382
Thanks!

I would go with a Zalman 7000A Al-Cu. Very quiet, and cools very nicely.
Using one on a P4 3.0C, right now.

Might be pushing the envelope, with the wattage, there.

I'd consider looking at an ATI 9600 series video card, or the NVidia 5200
Ultra (about the same price as your Ti4200). I'm also not a fan of anybody's
"value" RAM. Don't skimp on RAM, either in quantity or quality.Spend the
extra 30 or 40 bucks and buy the XMS series or maybe some Kingston HyperX.

Good Luck,
Fitz
