after upgrading my ram memory i now hear a single beep coming from the
internal speaker on start up, this did not happen before i upgraded.
i installed the ram myself and it is recognised by my computer and every
thing works as normal, my brother has the same computer as me and had he's
ram installed by a pro and has the same beep sound, no error messages. is
this normal?
pc = emachines 3240
pentium 4

thanks for any info.

It depends on the beep. Normaly, PC give a single, short beep to indicate
that all is well (POST tests ran sucessfully). If it's a contiuous beep,
there's a problem with the motherboard or power supply.

Since no error messages were generated, it sounds like all is well in your
system box. :D

A Single, Short Beep means "all-is-grand". Several Long, run-together
beeps means *-Memory Error-*, not Power supply!
