Why does my computer make a loud, quick beep sound right about the time the
BIOS starts?
Is it possible to turn it off?

Thanks.

Greetings

Thats called a "post code". You will have to go into your BISO to see if
you can disable it.

If your motherboard doesn't have a built-in "beeper," you can disconnect the
system speaker and kill the sound or probably lessen the volume if there is a
built-in beeper. But it's not a good idea to get rid of it. Beeps can warn you
of problems. A single short beep when you're booting usually means everything
is OK.

One beep is normal on start-up...
From TechTV's website:
"When you turn on your computer, it goes through a system boot test. One
beep indicates that everything's normal. If you hear more than one beep,
something's wrong with your system. It could be that your computer
expects to see hardware that isn't installed or plugged in properly."
