I had the above virus on my system. I went into the
Nortons site and was able to remove all the infected
files except the one in the Regedit file. Now... I can't
install any of the service pacs. Can anyone tell me how
to get rid of this thing? I appreciate any help anyone
can give me. Please respond by e-mail. Thank you!

Number one the virus name BugBear NOT the other way arund.

Second there are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

microsoft.public.scripting.virus.discussion
microsoft.public.security.virus
alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus

Finally...
Read the following URL for; W32/Bugbear@MM
http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_99728.htm

You can use the McAfee virus and Internet worm removal tool to remove the virus and fix the
Registry; http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

I should also note that if you post to UseNet with your TRUE, not a munged, email address
then you have invited the Swen Internet worm [aka; W32/Gibe-F] to visit you.

W32.Swen.A@mm - http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

You REALLY need to learn the concepts and practices of Safe Hex if you want to continue to
use your PC w/o problems.
