Be Careful!! Ton of mock e-mails being sent out via e-mail

Wow have got about thirty "mock" Microsoft Updates via e-mail. All have met
Mr. Recycle bin!!

Never seen this many hit my e-mail box. Zone Alarm Pro and my hardware
firewall are doing the job!! Somebody is very busy on the internet. See a
ton of newsgroup posts that people are getting pounded by this "mock"
update.

For the novice user I'd have to say most of them have took the bait.

Just remember this advice "Microsoft does not e-mail Windows Updates"

Also, have noticed a bunch of yahoo e-mails with attachments.

Be very careful if you are not a advanced user!!

These e-mails also contain a virus. I have received 7 of them this
afternoon. Didn't write down the virus, but I will next time so I can
look it up on the Norton Anti-Virus Center.

Folks, the "rule of thumb" here is that any unexpected (and unwanted) e-mail
is deleted on the spot. My own solution is to color code my wanted/expected
mail via Message Rules. These rarely send attachments. Also, if you've
unchecked it, consider remarking "Do not allow attachments to be opened..."
in OE's Tools>Options>Security tab. Thia will make one think a bit harder,
make a little more effort to open, and hopefully NOT open the bad ones.
This is jus one layer of protection and not a guaranteed one at that, but...

Since I got home last night to getting home tonight I have had 120+ virus
intercepted messages from my ISP,
PLUS the 24 faked Microsoft ones they let through.
In 5 years of using the internet, I've never seen anything like it.
Wish I had shares in Recycle Bin.com :p

Same here. I am now at over 135 fake emails and virus threats. This is
ridiculous. Whomever is going this needs to be put in jail.
