BDD and SMS WIM image with USMT

sHave tried to research the following, but no avail.
During a zero touch insallation, before the WIM image is downloaded, the
user state can be saved locally on the same machine. If there is an error
while writing the new image, can the User State data be recovered. If so, how?

Also, can the default acton of saving the user state locally be disabled.
