BCM does not load under user account (limited account)

Patrick

This is a follow on question to my Post of 8/7 (Patrick)
I am still trying to get Outlook 2003 with BCM to work
properly under a user account (limited account).

Problem: BCM loads when I open Outlook 2003 under the
Administrator account; however, BCM does not load when I
open Outlook 2003 under a (limited) user account.

I have followed what Sue Mosher suggested in her reply
Post of 8/7: I double clicked on EnableBCM, and got the
message that it is already enabled. I also followed her
other suggestion and added the user account (which is a
limited account) to the BCM Users Group. When I open
Outlook under the User account, and use the default
profile (Outlook), I still do not get the opening screen
asking if I would like to use BCM and BCM still does not
load.

However, after creating a new Outlook Profile (under the
same limited user account, I do get the question "Would
you like to use BCM?). However, after clicking YES, I
get the following error message "There was a problem
connecting to the database engine".

I still have not imported any data into Outlook 2003 (I
will continue using OE untill I get Outlook 2003 with BCM
to load under the limited account) and have no problem
unistalling BCM and reinstalling it if that can solve the
problem. Thank you

Hi Patrick,

I no doubt know less about this issue than you do, but I
did come across something will will either be helpful or
just add to your confusion, so please take it with
a 'grain of salt':

I may be a service account issue.
The instance(s) of 'MICROSOFTBCM' may be running
'MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM' or 'SQLAgent$MICROSOFTBCM',
under a less priveledged 'Service User Account':
'Local Service' or 'Network Service'.

If so, perhaps the instances may have to be running
under 'LocalSystem'.

Confused yet? Cuz I am :p

Anyways, here's something you can try:
0) Set up a system restore checkpoint, or just note your
settings before you change them. :)
1) Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
2) Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-
click Computer Management.
3) Under the Services and Applications node, click
Services.
4) Right click 'MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM' and select properties.
5) Select 'LogOn' tab.
6) Set to 'LocalSystem' (without the 'Allow Service to
interact with desktop' checked)
7) Repeat steps 4 thru 6 for the 'SQLAgent$MICROSOFTBCM'
service.

Good luck, I hope it helps(if you decide to use it).
