BCM database problems

Using Office 2007 outlook with BCM on XP…

When ever I close Outlook, with no problems, then next time I open it I get
the following message as a balloon in the icon tray (message below). It
never finds any problems. I have run the the BCM, Database Tools, Manage
Database, check for errors, and again , no problems.

Any idea what is going on here?

Thanks, Bob.

Microsoft Office Outlook
A data file did not close properly the last time it was used and is being
checked for problems. Performance might be affected while the check is in
progress.

I found that the OUTLOOK service continues to run for quite a very long
while after closing Outlook itself. If you shut down your computer, after
closing Outlook manaully, I received this message when starting back up.
but i found that if i shut down windows, letting IT close Outlook, all
worked fine. If you want to close Outlook manually - close it and then open
Task Manager and watch/wait for the outlook process to go away, only THEN
should do what you need (shut down, restart OL, UNINSTALL BCM, whatever).

Just amazing that microsoft (the "software development" company) writes this
stuff........ more amazing, is that they take pride when they release
it........ I digress. hope this helps.

Try using File, Exit to close Outlook instead of clicking on the red X in
the upper right corner. That will take Outlook out of memory most of the
time, unless some other program that links to it has it open.

That might help...

On your other post complaining of slow response time: most laptops have slow
hard drives (4200 or 5400 rpm) and BCM (and other SQL databases) will bang
your hard drive heavily. You might also defrag your hard drive. BCM
creates large databases and a fragmented hard drive means that your BCM db
is broken up all over your drive instead of in one contiguous file. And,
2GB of RAM will make a big difference compared to GAB.

HTH,
Lon
