BCM Backup or Export

Which is better to use, backup or export?
Does one save more info than the other (like categories?)
or does it not make a difference which to use?
Exporting seems to take a lot longer than backup, probably because it is not
being compressed?

I was encouraged, by Microsoft, to use the Export instead of Backup. I
imported from the Export (*.bcm) file and all came in successfully. That I
could tell, anyway. hth

An import should be richer than a database restore. Particularly when
you are moving from one Outlook to another. Some BCM items will have
links to Outlook items. If BCM can't find the Outlook items after a db
restore, then it cannot open them. However, a BCM import will create
some Outlook items. Import creates Outlook appointments for future
meetings. If reminders are stored in Outlook and tracked in BCM, then
an import may create them in Outlook.

Export takes longer because it is writing an XML text file.
