BCM and remote users...

I have a client that is using BCM , but they use a laptop in the office and
have remote access while they are away. The problems we have are:
1) While they are not connected to the server the BCM isnt available
offline, so they have no access to the contacts etc. At the moment they
have to manually copy the contacts to their local ones. Is there a way
around this or some sort of script to automatically update the local?
2) BCM is still installed on a local pc rather than the server. Is there an
official way to install BCM to a server yet?

Many THanks

If they are using bcm 2007, there is an offline feature. With this feature,
they can take a snapshot of the shared db in their local laptops and take the
infor away from office. When they return to the office, they can sync the
offline db with shared db. Also for bcm 2007, there is a database tool
available to host a shared bcm db on the server.

You can go to http://blogs.msdn.com/bcm/ for more information on offline
features and the database tool. Thanks.

I know that they are bound to ask. If they have 2 desktops, 1 server and a
laptop. Do they need to upgrade the 2 desktops and laptop to office 2007
(with bcm), and purcahse an extra copy of the server, or can you just
upgrade the laptop, use that to deploy the database on the server and then
link 2003 from the 2 desktops with the server database? Its always about
costs

All users of a shared database must use the same version of BCM,
therefore the same version of Outlook. However, you do not have to
purchase a license for the server.

Here's the latest on installing BCM on a server:

Hi Najuan - after a Vista update on my desktop system my laptop can no
longer detect my BCM file remotely. I have disabled and reneabled remote
access and been through the whole setup procedure again and still cannot get
it to work. It was fine before that update. The Laptop has XP on it.
