HI,
I have been unable to reboot 90% of the time and my system
often crashes. I use Netscape as a browser and don't

Error codes include:

The error report usually adds:

When I go to microsoft for help online I find it difficult
to foolow their solution. It also involves registry changes.
My HOPE is that some kind sole has a 'fix' for this that I
can download --like I did twice before through direction

It boils down to being a driver issue. There is one that is either
incompatible with WinXP, or one that is conflicting with something else
installed and running on the system.

Hi,

Start here:

Hello again and thank you,
I have searched the sight you suggest but I don't feel
certain I really understand what problem I have. But, since
you say it's a driver issue, will it help to proceed with:
Boot Install"
"The Windows XP startup disk allows computers without a
bootable CD-ROM to perform a new installation of the
operating system. The Windows XP startup disk will
automatically load the correct drivers to gain access to
the CD-ROM drive and start a new installation of Setup."<<
-----------------------------------------------------------

When I click on the link:

"314063 - Troubleshooting a Stop 0x0000000A error in
Windows XP"

It takes me to a solution for "hardware" solutions, at:

"http://www.microsoft.com/hcl/", It takes me to a MS. page
offering a catalogue of hardware produts--obviously I made
a mistake.

I think this repair may be beyond my abilities. I think I
may again need a "Kelly's Page" fix, or some such
'pre-packaged solution'. The instructions to 'alter bios,
or make registry changes are lost on me unless I can read
and follow concrete operational steps.

I would appreciate any further suggestion--if there are
any--as to how I might proceed--lacking expertise as I do.
I'm MORE than willing to read through and spend a day or
more correcting this; it's comprehending instructions that
has thus far eluded me.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

There isn't going to be a simple fix for this type of problem. You need to
first isolate which piece or pieces of hardware are causing the issue, then
address them individually. The hardware list is a good place to start, as it
lists all the hardware that is natively supported by WindowsXP. For anything
not on the list, you need to look to the hardware manufacturer for proper
support (and this may also be true even for hardware that IS natively
supported).

Hi "Nutcase" ( even though you don't sound like a "nutcase")
I will try to follow the repair steps the best I can, but
if I have not installed any new hardwhere--or
software--then could I still have a 'driver problem'??

Hi,

Yes, you could. An update could be conflicting with an installed driver. The
update could be a Windows Update, or one for a program on your system. The
driver could have been just fine until now, but a change could have caused
the conflict and now it requires updating. It is also possible a driver file
has become corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.

Make sure that your system is set to create a minidump on startup error
(Control Panel/System/Advanced tab, click startup and recovery settings. In
system failure, set debugging to write a small memory dump). Next time it
happens, send the new dmp file to me at the address used here (it is valid),
but change the subject line to "per req" (without the quotes) to get past my
filters. If you don't title the subject correctly, I will never see it. I
will try and take a look at the dmp file and see if it points out the
problematic files.
