Battlefield 2 with ATI X1600 PRO

Can someone please tell me if Battlefield 2 supports the ATI Radeon
X1600 Pro video card? Just got the game for xmas, wife installs it,
and the game just seems to hang at a black screen. Downloading the
latest patch for the game (2.5 hrs to download) now. Just want to get
your opinion to make sure I'm not wasting my time.

According to EA's website doesn't look like this card is supported, but
then they also state they recommend ANY card with 256mb ram and the
latest manufacturer drivers.

Thanks for your help.

ATI is notorious for troublesome drivers. Make sure you have the latest
ones. That card should work.

Your card is more recent than the list of cards in the readme.txt file
from the downloadable demo of that game. I think your hardware is OK.
Maybe your drivers need work. (Chipset driver, video card driver from ATI,
DirectX 9c from Microsoft)

I would start by checking that the card can run any 3D content.
(To verify that the drivers are doing their job.)

In Start:Run, you can type "dxdiag" and run the DirectX dxdiag
program. Try the "Test Direct3D" button. It is under the "Display"
tab, as seen here.

Downloaded the latest patch and video drivers and finally everything
worked well.

Thanks for the response.
