Would anyone have any suggestions for a batch picture resizer for .JPG
files? As simple as possible, pls, and about the only option I'd need
is the ability to select the size of the output picture. If it kept
the resolution the same as the original, it would be good as well. For
printing purposes.

Many thanks, Regis

Have you looked at IrfanView? The i_options.txt file includes
instructions and sample batch file lines for various operations
including resizing.

Hi Regis,

I use Irfanview's "Thumbnail" icon to activate
"C:\Program Files\Accessories\Irfanview\i_view32.exe" /thumbs

The Irfanview Thumbnails window has batch-resizing (and a WHOLE lot
more too). No command line required. Just select the photos you want to
work on, right click and choose "Start Batch Dialog with selected
thumbs..."

It's even simpler than that. Start Irfanview and on the menu:

File/Batch Conversion/Rename (or simply press "B")

and the Batch Conversion window opens. Put a checkmark by "Use advanced
options" and you can press the "Set advanced options" button to open the
"Set for all images" window, which allows resizing of the files.

Many, many thanks people. I'll give all these a try. And thanks to
John and "Anonymous" for the info on Irfanview. Alt.comp.freeware
never fails to render aid to the computeraly illererate.
