batch job to setup printers possible?

Is it possible to setup a batch job to make new printers in 2000 and XP?

Are there any other simple scripted ways to configure printing without
having to go through manually entering information in the GUI?

Yes - check out con2prt.exe from the resource kit. It works very well.
