Inside Windows Explorer, you can right-click on the .bat
file and choose Edit(2nd choice on the menu I believe).
That will allow you to see what is inside of it.
Just double-clicking on it will run the batch, so be sure
it's from someone you know and that you've checked the
contents before running it. It's very easy to send
malicious batch files around.
Would I be right in assuming that you tried to open
it and you saw something flash on the screen for a
second? Batch files, when run anytime other than in
a command window, will open a command window, run
and then close itself automatically.
Like the others mentioned, I hope it was from a
trusted source.
