basic help with "my pictures"...

how do i set my computer (xp) where it won't use the "paint" program to open
up pictures with? i want it to use the image expert program that i have,
but it always opens pictures up with the "paint" program first and that
drives me nuts! i know i can right click on a picture and tell it what to
open up with, but how do i change the main setting somewhere so that my
pictures ALWAYS open with image expert???
