Base System Error help

Can someone explain to me what the base system is please?
In device manager under 'other devices' there is an error
against 'base system device'. What does this mean? Thanks.
 
Hi C,

The only type of devices I've seen referred to in this way are memory card
readers and notebook PC Card controllers. I think I heard of a clock card (?)
being recognised this way too.

Do you have a card reader (SD, memory stick etc) - or are you using a
notebook PC?

Have a tinker with drivers for these if they seem appropriate & post back
any other info (or if you have solved the problem) - so we know.

I have also had this fix itself in the past by simply right clicking on
it, uninstalling it, and rebooting. Windows automatically reinstalled
it and it didn't show up with a problem anymore. I'm not sure what it
does either though I bet if I Googled for it I would find something out :)
