Barcodes

I am a moderately experienced user of Excel but I am in a new job and learning new things.
Here is what I need to do
We do a physical inventory each month where 26 locations scan the barcodes of their items on to a prepared excell spreadsheet - works well. However, on my end, I need to re-enter al of those barcodes into our billing software - compatible in exporting TO excel but not the other way. At this time I re-enter each 8-digit barcode number by hand, takeas hours, not to mention the human error that occurs. My question: is there a way to get Excel to print a "barcode" that is readable by our scanner in an adjacent cell to the numeric equivalent produced at each location

Would this require an outside software

Any help is appreciated

There are two ways to print bar codes from Excel. One way is to use a
bar code font however bar code fonts can be difficult to use and they
generally produce very poor quality bar codes that are difficult to
read. The best tool to use would be a bar code ActiveX control. The
best one on the market is the TAL Bar Code ActiveX control. You can
download a demo version of it from the following URL:
http://www.taltech.com/products/activex_barcodes.html

The demo version comes with a sample Excel spreadsheet that shows how
to use it in an Excel spreadsheet.

There is also more information on using the TAL Bar Code ActiveX
control in Excel at the following URL:
