Bar chart values above max scale

I'm running Powerpoint 2000 and previous to getting a new computer I would be
able to have a graph with one (or more) bars that exceeded the max scale of
the graph. The displayed values for that bar would be inside the end of the
bar. Now for some reason it won't display the values for bars that exceed
the scale and I have to manually add a text box to display these values.

Any idea on how to get it to go back to displaying these values automatically?

I think you may just need to change the position of the data label.

Choose the data from the dropdown list on the toolbar at the top of the
charting screen, and then Format | Selected Data Labels. On the Alignment
tab, choose a different label position.

Note that this Label Position option isn't available on some types of charts
(e.g., 3D columns).

Hi,

In very old versions the data labels of points outside the plot area where
still displayed.
Later version do not display data labels for points outside of the plot
area. Funnily enough you can actually select the data label put it does not
display anything.

Use a label position that displays within the plotarea. Or if possible use a
dummy series to display required information.

Cheers

While not the answer I was hoping for...thanks that explains alot. Normally
I would just use the 2ndary axis and play with the scaling but I'm already
using the 2ndary axis with an extreme scale to put values in the base of all
the bars.

So text boxes it is... Thanks again.
