A bar at the bottom of my Explorer screen has disappeared.
Don't know the name of the bar but its most important
function was to show me how fast something was loading by
the use of a little bar window filling in from left to
right. I cannot figure how to get it back, or why it
disappeared. Can someone please help?
Thanks,
Serge Popper

To make your Status Bar reappear (and stick)

Close all your applications
Open Explorer (Window Key-E)
Select View, Status Bar (you should now see the status bar)
Goto Tools, Folder Options
Goto the View tab
Hit, apply to all folders
Hit ok to accept
Close that instance of Explorer

That should fix it for you

(note this is the procedure to get the status bar back in IE as well)

Thanks for your help. Got it back!
Serge
