In the last few ays this banner pops up on my sign in screen saying i may
have unauthentic versionof Windows and be a victim of software piracy. This
is not possible. It also has a star instead of a windows flag so I am suspect.
Has anyone heard of this? Windows update is on and I an updated.

Windows Genuine Advantage Notification thinks you have an illegal copy of
Windows or Office. This may or may not be true...where did yours come from?

Did you check out the links?
Who did you buy the computer from - Dell? Another large mfr? Or someone
else?
It's entirely possible this is a false positive, but I have to say that of
all the many computers I support, I've seen this happen only twice - and it
was on two workstations built by another tech, and using pirated copies of
Windows.
