Banner Ad Blocker

Hi All,

There are some good freeware popup blockers for IE (as well as the built-in
Windows SP2 version), but are there any that do a good job of blocking other
equally annoying annoyances such as banner ads and the #%*@#?! animated ads?
If not, what is the best shareware program that works with Windows XP and
IE6?

personally, i use a customized combonation of both a .pac (proxy
access configuration) file and a HOSTS file that has only a few
"vibrant media / intellitxt" entries in it. between the two i get very
close to a 100% ad-free web browsing experience! :)

info on using a "no-ads" .pac file:

info on HOSTS file:

I've been using Naviscope for years now and even though its really old it
still works. I don't know if you can still find it but if it still does a
good job. I haven't been able to find anything better in that not only does
it take care of pop ups, ads, but it also tells you what's going on with
your browser. It allows you to see all connections and you can stop any
connection you want too. Its kind of nice and I've never seen a ad blocking
program anything like Naviscope, that's why I've had it for years and years.
I've had it since 1997!
