You would do well to learn a few things about Flash. It
will do exactly what you describe. Take time to do it
right and you'll please yourself and those who visit your
site.

I would like to know how it is possible, when someone
rolls over text or a picture, it pops up with a balloon or
text box somewhere else on the page.
Let's say that you have a circular object with icons
around the circle. When you roll over one of the icons, I
would like a picture or text to appear inside of the
circle. Or if there are headlines for news on my page, I
would like the user to roll over it, and the actual
article will appear in a balloon or text box.
Thanks for any kind of info on this. I need to learn
flash but for right now I am at a skill level of just
importing images into frontpage and applying simple dhtml
effects.

Hi Steve,
Maybe you could give a formula that worked for you regarding learning flash.
I've been struggling with it for a while. I haven't really had time to set
everything else aside and really bore in.
I'm no beginner at web work but I'm having a very difficult time with flash.
any secrets?

I had the same experience with Flash 5 and put it away for
awhile...being a Macromedia product, it's not as intuitive to someone
who works mostly with MS and Adobe products.

However, I did get a couple of books out from the library recently,
and they've made a big difference. SAMS Teach Yourself Macromedia
Flash 5 in 24 Hours, and Flash 5 for Dummies. Once you've made an
animation or button or whatever, you can open the file as a library to
re-use the symbols, etc., etc. Once you break thru and make something
successfully, it starts to go real fast. One of my clients had a
problem with some of their users having workstation issues running swf
files, so i just exported the swf animations to animated gif files.
Now, all is cool.

Bottom line: I agree with Steve H....spend a lil time to "bore in",
and Flash will be a great tool to add to your skillset.
