Okay, I spent all weekend complaining about Vista. Here's (a small part of)
the other side (in no particular order):

Print dialogs are like mini Printers control panel windows.

The folder tree has finally arrived! (This is almost as good as the
invention of the Context Menu.)

Does Windows Mail actually /have/ a splash screen? It starts up /way/ too
fast!

The Command Line column in Task Manager/Processes. (Be still my beating
heart.)

The Start Menu orb: The way it should be. (Although I still use Classic
menus, but now... hmmm... okay, okay already! I'll switch!)

Folder Options\Apply to All Folders applies a view only to folders with the
same template! (Now if I can just figure out how to add a new type of custom
template.)

Man, does it boot fast or what?

Power Options -- and options and options and options...

Hotswapping drives. Sheesh! The next version will probably let me hotswap
processors!

Windows Side By Side -- sure it's huge, but will we ever actually see
another DLL conflict?

Network Location Awareness -- I might not remember what hotel or city I'm in
first thing in the morning, but my computer knows where it is.

The Tags column -- a good second step. (Now, when I can add tags to /any/
file, it'll be /really/ useful.)

Windows Firewall. Sure, it's just a stateful packet inspector (ISA still
reigns supreme), but it's a real firewall now, and as configurable as the
best. Look at those options!

I installed all 9000+ fonts from my library. It was a mistake. Oh, Windows
handles them just fine! But my brain can't. I should probably stick with
Typograf to keep them sorted into groups, even though I'll have to install
the Win32hlp "downdate". (Note to Microsoft: Please add tags or some sort
of custom configurable grouping to fonts.)

David,

No doubt there are many new features that one must discover on one's own. I
was not aware of the Command Line column in TM/Process tab until your post.
Thanks for sharing that...

Other nice features:

In Task Manager, highlight a process such as one of the svchost, right
click, Go to service (s) moves to the services window with the services
running under that process highlighted.

Oh, wow... that is going to save /soooo/ much time when there are problems!
