Hi
My parent's pc was running slow. the antivirus software had expired 4 months
ago. We installed a new Antivirus and now have found tons of adware and a
couple of viruses.
Trouble is when the machinre reboots it comes up with this message

isass.exe-bad image
The application or DLL c:\windows\system32\repairs303169590.dll is not a
valid windows image. Please check agains your installation diskette.

but there are tons of them and all have the same number like
services.exe
userinit.exe
igfxtray.exe
mclogCLn.exe
rundll.exe
explorer.exe
and another 10 more.

Can this be fixed or do they need to wipe the whole thing and start again?
It's a Dell pc and has all the recovery CDs
Thanks

If this was my machine then I would do this:
1. Disconnect it from the Internet.
2. Back up all data files.
3. Back up all EMail files.
4. Perform a factory restore.
5. Install a good virus scanner.
6. Install a software firewall (unless it sits behind a router).
7. Never let the anti-virus licence expire.

Thanks
That's what I thought
