bad image checksum

my daughter let some idiot format her hard drive. I tried to reload her original xp discs. now you see the xp screen for about 5 secs then screen goes blue with error message: bad image checksum the image filename is possibly corrupt. the header checksum does not match the computed checksum. help!

Never let a daughter within a mile of an idiot - it's catching!
The drive is probably incorrectly formatted - an idiot can't format a
drive, let alone do anything useful.
Since all data are lost, reformat the drive properly, making sure that
you delete any partitions and recreate them with fdisk.
Then the install should be idiot-proof.
