Bad Folder

I have a folder in the Root Directory of D: drive ( the drive that has W2k
installed) of a dual boot system that when accessed gives the following
error message:

D:\BAD2 is not Accessible.
The directory name is invalid.

When right clicking on the Folder and selecting properties the following
statistics appear:

Size: 0 bytes
Size on disk: 0 bytes
Contains: 0 Files, 0 Folders

I can rename the folder, hence the BAD2 name.
I cannot erase it.
I've tried, safe mode and command prompt without being able to erase the
folder. I have tried ghosting to a new HD and erasing it there.

I am now considering creating a new installation on the drive that I ghosted
to and swapping with the present D: drive.

Is there anything else I can do to erase this folder before taking this
step?

Is the problem folder located on a FAT or NTFS partition?

I would adopt either of these solutions:

a) Temporarily install the disk as a slave disk in some other
Win2000 PC, then delete the folder, or

b) Install the Command Console, boot into the Command Console,
then delete the folder.

I suppose you have already checked the disk with chkdsk /f.
