An old bad email address appears automatically in the "to" window when typing
the first letter, the address does not appear in the address book. How can I
delete it?

Thank you for your reply, what I meant was how can I delete it from
automatically popping up when I type the first few letters in the window. I
do delete it by your method, but it comes back everytime I try to type the
correct one (and of course I can get to the correct one by scrolling down,
but would like the bad one to be deleted.

Doing what was posted will delete it from the cache. You aren't using the
arrow key to select it.

Thanks for catching that, you're right, I was using the mouse to select it!
Apologies to Mary as well who gave me the correct answer to begin with! You
guys rock!

It's a pretty counterintuitive requirement. Any other method of selecting
the entry applies it to the current message, so the Delete key will remove
it from the message but not the cache.

When it pops up, navigate to it using the arrow keys, highlight and
press
Delete.

Thanks Mary for the correct answer from your first post, I was using the
mouse instead of the arrow key. Thanks again.
