Bad Checksum Error-Revisited

Randomly, on a normal reboot, BIOS POST's a "Bad Checksum Error". It will
then reload bios from cdrom. This happens maybe 3 times in a month.
ALL settings are stock speeds, no overclocking. Hyperthreading enabled.
My previous post here 1 month ago, it had happened only the one time. It
seems like its going to happen regularly albeit randomly.

Asus P4P800
Kingston HyperX 512MB Dual Channel PC3200 2X256
Enermax 350W P/S +5=32a +3.3=32A +12=26a
Maxtor 160GB HDD

Factory Bios ver 1.009 (not updated)

It is a BIOS issue. I had that same problem with my P4C800-ED. Updating the BIOS to the latest version which
is 1.014 fixed it. The lastest version for the P4P800 is 1.012 but the release date is quite recent. Try it.

I'm using NTFS. Which bios update should I use: afudos OR EZ Flash?
Thanks

I use afudos. Just format a diskette with the "Create MS-DOS Startup disk" option ticked, extract afudos and
the bios image to it, reboot on to the diskette, and enter the comand: afudos /iP4P81012.ami. After the flash
process is complete, remove the diskette and reboot.

I had this on a7v333 I thought the board was screwed . I was able to
fix it by a combination of these
1. I had k-byte ram 2700 and I changed to crucial 2700 ram

2. unplug and remove battery and clear cmos

3. I flashed bios using aflash, because when I did it using the
onscreen method it said something about
boot block , So I used aflash (dos boot and aflash .exe with bios file)
4. I had only one hard drive it was master and i changed it to cable
select.

one of these or all did the trick

I met with this checksum error problem on a recently purchased ASUS
P4P800. At every power on a checksum error message appeared. The only
way to boot the PC was to insert the original motherboard CD. To cure
the problem I upgraded the BIOS to version v1014 which is available
from: http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4P800.

You must use the new 'dos' flash utility included with the download
and not either of those originally supplied.

Since the upgrade absolutely no problems.
