I want to use the vista "backup status and configuration" to back up a large
folder of pictures across my network to a folder on the desktop on an XP Pro
machine. The backup program insists on a username and password to access the
XP Pro machine, but there are none set. How do I get past this?
Thank you

In Vista's Network>Network and Sharing>turn OFF Password Protected. Try that.
You do have File and Printer Sharing set up in XP?

Password protected is turned off and yes, both computers are able to see and
access each others shares easily. It's just the bloody backup program that is
asking for the username and passsword. I guess I'm in the wrong group. I'll
post in the networking group. Thanks.
